Horan & McConaty Funeral Service and Cremation

Horan & McConaty is a family-owned funeral service and cremation company that has cared for Denver families since 1919. The company operates eight locations around the metro area — Central Denver, South Denver, Southeast Denver/Aurora, Southwest Denver/Lakewood, North Metro/Thornton, South Metro/Centennial, and Northwest/Arvada — so families can usually find a chapel close to home.

Services range from traditional funerals to simple cremations, with veteran services, celebrations of life, and reception catering arranged at the same site. Cremation can be combined with a visitation or memorial service, so families who prefer a simpler arrangement can still gather to say goodbye.

The Northwest/Arvada chapel at 7577 W. 80th Avenue is a former bank that Horan & McConaty purchased and fully renovated in 2010, with Frank Lloyd Wright-inspired stained glass throughout and professional audio/visual systems. An adjacent reception center hosts informal gatherings of up to 100 people after the service, with catering and florist services handled in-house.

Preplanning is a large part of the practice: appointments, an online preplanning form, funding options, and a published general price list let families make decisions in advance and lift that burden from their loved ones. After a loss, the HeartLight Center offers grief support, including a year of weekly grief messages and Sacred Transitions programs. Staff are available at 303-327-7220 for questions about services, pricing, or what to do when a death occurs.
